It's been an intense couple of years for everyone and sometimes it feels like, in the midst of everything horrible going on in the world that we should not be celebrating. It has been 1 year since the publication of my novel. A milestone worth celebrating. If we do not celebrate what is good, what is going right, we will not remember to pay attention to the beauty. We will become stuck.
As Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie said, "Stories have been used to dispossess and to malign. But stories can also be used to empower, and to humanize. Stories can break the dignity of a people. But stories can also repair that broken dignity."
Throughout Where Are We Tomorrow? I strove to repair the characters' dignity through the telling their stories. Art can change you. I do believe this. I hope you'll celebrate with me.
