Directed Field Work

My name is Tavi Black and on this blog am documenting work I will be doing Fall Semester of 2024 with the University of Washington MLIS program. I am working in the Vashon Island School District at Chautauqua Elementary School with Teacher/Librarian Kathleen Lawrence.

My work will consist of teaching media literacy to 4th grade students with the Social Media Test Drive application that I was introduced to through my class in LIS 516: Youth Development And Information Behavior in A Digital Age with Dr. Katie Davis. The app was developed by Cornell's Social Media Lab and is aimed at teaching digital citizenship skills to 9-13 year old students.

I will also be learning about circulation, reports, organization and daily tasks of a teacher/librarian.
